Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the technical and supervisory aspects related to electrical substation systems. The core duties include:

• Overseeing the design and engineering of new electrical substation projects or expansion/upgrade projects for existing substations.
• Reviewing and approving engineering drawings, equipment specifications, and electrical system calculations.
• Planning, executing, and monitoring the installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning of substation equipment (e.g., transformers, circuit breakers, protection and control devices).
• Ensuring full compliance with local and international quality and safety standards (such as ADEWA specifications, IEEE, and IEC standards).
• Coordinating with project managers, engineers from other disciplines, subcontractors, and clients.
• Preparing technical reports, feasibility studies, Request for Proposal (RFP) documents, and periodic progress reports.
• Providing technical support during the operational phase and troubleshooting.
• Supervising and mentoring technicians and junior engineers.

Qualifications and Essential Requirements

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university. A Master's degree will be an added advantage.
• Work Experience: Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a strong and consistent focus on Substations within the contracting or utility sector.
• Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of high-voltage systems, substation design, protection and control systems, and relevant Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
• Professional Certifications: Possession of recognized professional certifications (e.g., PMP, Professional Engineering licenses) is preferred.
• Soft Skills: Excellent leadership and supervisory skills, effective communication abilities across all levels, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Language: Proficiency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
