Senior Engineer, Power Plant Electrical Maintenance

Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The Senior Engineer will be responsible for leading and executing electrical maintenance activities within the power generation plant. The focus will be on ensuring the highest standards of reliability, efficiency, and safety for the critical electrical systems supporting the generation process. Core responsibilities include:
- Leading, planning, and executing scheduled (preventive) maintenance programs for the plant's major electrical systems, including generators, main transformers, High Voltage (HV) circuit breakers, distribution systems, and control systems.
- Diagnosing and proactively repairing complex electrical faults to minimize unplanned downtime and increase equipment availability.
- Supervising technicians and contractors during major maintenance overhauls and refurbishments, ensuring full compliance with stringent safety procedures (e.g., LOTO - Lock Out Tag Out).
- Analyzing the performance of electrical systems and proposing engineering improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, and reduce operational costs.
- Preparing detailed technical reports on maintenance activities, fault analyses, and upgrade recommendations.
- Managing inventory and resources for critical electrical spare parts.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant local and international standards and regulations for electrical safety and quality.
Qualifications & Essential Requirements
To be a successful candidate for this leadership role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Work Experience: Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience in electrical maintenance, with a strong focus on power generation plants or similar heavy industrial environments (e.g., petrochemicals, refining). Direct hands-on experience with High Voltage (HV) and Medium Voltage (MV) systems is essential.
- Technical Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of electrical protection and control systems (protection relays, SCADA/PLC systems).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting single-line and detailed electrical schematics.
- Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for work planning and tracking.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety standards (e.g., NFPA 70E, local standards).
- Personal Skills: Leadership capabilities and excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in both Arabic and English. Ability to work under pressure and solve complex problems methodically. Accuracy and strong attention to detail.
