Job Description
The Clinical Social Worker will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team at NMC. This role focuses on providing direct psychosocial support to patients and their families, contributing to a holistic treatment journey. The responsibilities extend beyond psychological care to include social facilitation and ensuring patients navigate the healthcare system and access necessary external support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Psychosocial Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients to identify supportive needs, social determinants of health, and available family/community support systems.
- Counseling and Emotional Support: Provide individual or group counseling sessions to patients and families to help them cope with medical diagnoses, chronic illness, trauma, and health-related crises.
- Discharge Planning and Follow-up: Collaborate closely with doctors and nurses to develop safe and effective discharge plans, ensuring continuity of care through appropriate community referrals and follow-up services.
- Resource Management and Referral: Assist patients and families in accessing relevant community resources, government services, or support groups, and facilitate referrals to other services as needed.
- Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate psychosocial support and intervention in emergency situations or for individuals experiencing acute distress.
- Documentation and Collaboration: Maintain accurate and confidential medical-social records and participate actively in team meetings to discuss patient care plans.
Requirements and Qualifications

- Knowledge: Deep understanding of the UAE healthcare system, available community resources, and the professional ethics of medical social work.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in specific medical specialties such as oncology, pediatrics, geriatrics, or mental health.
- Proficiency in Arabic in addition to English.
- Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
