A "Client of Brunel," a global leader in workforce solutions for major technical and engineering projects, is offering a distinguished career opportunity for the position of Engineering Lead (Civil Marine) in Qatar. This role represents a critical leadership position within one of the country's massive and strategic projects, which is part of Qatar's extensive developmental and infrastructural renaissance, particularly in the marine and ports infrastructure sector.

Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Engineering Lead (Civil Marine) will occupy a pivotal role in leading and directing the engineering team responsible for the civil aspects of marine projects. The core responsibilities will focus on:

  • Technical Leadership: Providing technical leadership and guidance to the engineering team specialized in civil marine works, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Project Management: Overseeing all engineering phases of the marine project, from initial design and drawing reviews to on-site execution and final monitoring.
  • Coordination and Integration: Acting as the primary liaison between various stakeholders, including the design team, contractors, suppliers, and operations teams, ensuring seamless integration between different engineering disciplines.
  • Quality Control and Compliance: Ensuring all works comply with agreed technical specifications, international standards (such as ISO), and local Qatari laws and regulations, with a strong emphasis on marine and environmental safety standards.
  • Risk Management: Identifying potential risks in the marine project, developing mitigation plans, and taking immediate corrective actions when necessary.
  • Reporting: Preparing detailed periodic technical reports on work progress, budget, and schedules, and presenting them to senior management.
  • Continuous Development: Supervising the training and development of engineering team members, fostering knowledge transfer to ensure long-term sustainability and efficiency.

Qualifications and Essential Requirements

To be eligible for this leadership role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university. A Master's degree in a related field (e.g., Marine or Coastal Engineering) is a strong advantage.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 12 to 15 years of practical experience in civil engineering, with a strong and proven focus on major marine projects such as ports, harbors, jetties, coastal structures, and dredging/reclamation works.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven experience of at least 5 years in leadership positions, involving the management and direction of multi-disciplinary engineering teams in a complex project environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of design standards, materials, and construction methodologies specific to marine projects. Proficiency in relevant engineering design and analysis software (e.g., CAD software, soil and wave analysis tools).
  • Personal Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written) in both Arabic and English. Motivational leadership abilities, problem-solving skills for complex issues under pressure, and effective negotiation and resource/budget management skills.
  • Professional Certifications: A recognized professional certification (such as Chartered Engineer or equivalent) is highly desirable. Must hold valid safety certifications (e.g., NEBOSH or IOSH) as a prerequisite for working on the project site.
