Tendering & Estimation Engineer - Oil & Gas Materials Supply

A leading company in the Oil & Gas materials and equipment supply sector in Bahrain is seeking to hire a qualified and experienced Tendering & Estimation Engineer. This role presents a significant opportunity for ambitious engineers to join a dynamic work environment at the heart of the Gulf's energy industry and contribute to vital projects within the Oil & Gas supply chain.

Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The engineer will be responsible for managing the entire bid submission process, from receiving Request for Proposal (RFP) documents to submitting the final offer. Key responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing and Reviewing Tender Documents: Meticulously studying Requests for Quotation/Proposal/Tender issued by clients in the Oil & Gas sector, fully understanding all technical, commercial, and legal requirements.
  • Preparing Technical and Commercial Estimates: Calculating costs with high accuracy, including the cost of Oil & Gas-specific materials and equipment, transportation, insurance, customs duties, and any other relevant operational costs.
  • Coordinating and Preparing Bids: Compiling and editing comprehensive, professional proposals encompassing technical sections (technical appendices, specification sheets, certificates of conformity) and commercial sections (pricing, payment terms, delivery schedule).
  • Liaising with Suppliers and Manufacturers: Sourcing suitable supply channels, requesting quotations from Oil & Gas material and equipment vendors, and negotiating to secure the best terms to enhance the bid's competitiveness.
  • Risk Management: Identifying and assessing potential risks associated with bids (currency exchange risks, shipping delays, quality risks) and proposing mitigation plans.
  • Post-Submission Follow-up: Tracking submitted bids with clients, responding to their technical or commercial queries (if any), and assisting in the negotiation phase upon project award.

Qualifications & Core Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or any related engineering discipline). Advanced certifications in contract management or procurement may be an added advantage.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of practical experience in a similar role (Tendering Engineer, Estimation Engineer, Cost Engineer) within the Oil & Gas sector or industrial materials supply sector. Direct experience with Oil & Gas materials and equipment (e.g., pipes, valves, fittings, instrumentation) is crucial.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (especially Excel for complex calculations), and good knowledge of project management software or specialized estimation tools.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English.
  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of relevant global industry standards and specifications (e.g., ASME, API, ANSI) for Oil & Gas materials.
