Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The appointed Accountant will be responsible for the financial and administrative aspects related to the holiday homes and restaurants. Key responsibilities include:

  • Daily Accounts Management: Accurately and timely recording all financial transactions related to the operation of the holiday homes and restaurants.
  • Invoicing & Receivables: Issuing rental invoices to clients, following up on receivables, and ensuring revenue collection aligns with established policies.
  • Payments & Expenses: Processing supplier invoices and operational expenses for restaurants and unit maintenance, verifying their alignment with approved budgets.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Performing periodic reconciliations of bank accounts to ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  • Financial Reporting: Contributing to the preparation of regular (monthly/quarterly) financial reports that illustrate the financial performance of the units and restaurants, including revenue, cost, and margin analysis.
  • Cash Flow Management: Monitoring cash flows and assisting in forecasting short-term financial needs.
  • Tax Compliance: Ensuring compliance with local tax regulations in Dubai and the UAE, particularly concerning Value Added Tax (VAT).
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Working closely with property management, operations, and sales teams to provide financial support and information necessary for decision-making.
  • Inventory Operations: Assisting with inventory counts for restaurants and items within holiday units as required.

Qualifications & Essential Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Academic Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., CMA, CPA) will be a strong added advantage.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of practical accounting experience, with a strong preference for candidates with prior experience in the real estate (property management) or hospitality (hotels, restaurants, or holiday homes) sectors.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Practical knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems like Oracle or SAP, or specialized accounting software (QuickBooks, Zoho Books) is required.
  • Local Knowledge: A solid understanding of the regulatory and tax environment in Dubai and the UAE.
  • Soft Skills: High degree of accuracy, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage time and multitask effectively. Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the capability to work both in a team and within a fast-paced environment.
  • Language: Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential. Knowledge of Arabic is considered a beneficial addition.
