Job Description and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will occupy a critical position within the Finance department, primarily responsible for overseeing all General Ledger operations and ensuring their integrity. Key responsibilities include:
- General Ledger Oversight: Managing and accurately recording all financial transactions in the General Ledger, ensuring all accounts are reconciled.
- Month-End and Year-End Close: Leading and executing monthly and annual closing processes efficiently and on schedule, including account reconciliations and preparing journal entries.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensuring all accounting processes comply with local and international standards (such as International Financial Reporting Standards - IFRS) and the company's internal policies.
- Financial Reporting: Assisting in the preparation of periodic financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement) and providing supporting analyses to management.
- Internal and External Audit: Acting as a key point of contact for internal and external auditors, providing requested documentation and clarifications regarding ledger activities.
- Process Improvement: Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the ledger system.
- Supervision and Training: The role may involve supervising and guiding a small team of accountants to ensure the quality of work delivered.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:
- Academic Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional certification such as CMA, CPA, or ACCA is highly preferred.
- Work Experience: Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience in accounting and finance, with proven expertise and a strong focus on General Ledger management and financial closing processes in a medium to large-sized company.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems like SAP or Oracle. Excellent command of Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical and investigative skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English. Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
