Job Description
A leading Client of Brunel, a renowned recruitment and engineering services company, is currently seeking a highly skilled Category Specialist to join their team in Qatar. This is a pivotal role focused on managing and optimizing procurement categories to drive strategic objectives, reduce costs, and enhance operational efficiency.
As a Category Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies for assigned categories, managing supplier relationships, and conducting market analysis to ensure the best value is achieved. This role demands strong analytical skills, negotiation expertise, and a deep understanding of supply chain dynamics.
Key Responsibilities (Based on Job Title)
- Develop and implement category management strategies aligned with business goals.
- Conduct market research and data analysis to identify cost-saving and performance improvement opportunities.
- Manage the end-to-end procurement cycle for assigned categories, from needs identification to contract management.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential suppliers.
- Negotiate contracts and commercial terms to secure the best value for the company.
- Collaborate with internal departments (Engineering, Operations, Finance) to understand their requirements and ensure alignment with procurement strategy.
- Monitor and evaluate supplier performance periodically.
- Prepare regular reports on category performance and provide recommendations to senior management.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in procurement or category management, preferably within the oil & gas, energy, or contracting sectors.
- Skills:
- Fluency in English (spoken and written); Arabic is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet targets.
- Solid knowledge of local and international procurement laws and regulations.
