Job Overview
The Chief Accountant will hold a pivotal role within the finance department, serving as the primary officer responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all accounting and financial operations. Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Oversee all daily, monthly, and annual accounting activities of the company.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement) in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure full compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local tax laws and regulations in Oman.
- Manage the period-end closing process (monthly, quarterly, annual) and oversee internal and external audit activities.
- Develop, monitor, and control budgets and financial forecasts, providing analysis and recommendations to management.
- Lead, train, and develop the accounting team to ensure efficient and effective performance.
- Manage relationships with banks, financial institutions, and relevant regulatory bodies.
- Review and develop internal accounting and financial policies and procedures to enhance internal controls.
- Participate in strategic planning and key financial decision-making.
Qualifications and Core Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certifications (such as CPA, ACCA, CMA) are a significant advantage and are often a core requirement.
- A minimum of 7 to 10 years of practical experience in accounting and finance, with at least 3 years in a similar leadership role (Chief Accountant or Assistant Finance Manager).
- Deep and demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Excellent proficiency in advanced accounting and finance software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
- Strong leadership and managerial skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
- High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and professional integrity.
- Exceptional communication and analytical skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.
- Fluency in English is essential. Knowledge of Arabic is a distinct advantage.
