Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The Desktop Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of end-user desktop computing infrastructure. Key responsibilities will include:

• Installing, configuring, and maintaining desktop computers (PCs), laptops, operating systems (with a focus on Windows), and standard software applications.
• Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware and software issues for end-users, providing proactive and effective problem-solving.
• Providing first and second-level technical support to internal staff, responding to support tickets within agreed-upon Service Level Agreement (SLA) timeframes.
• Managing IT assets, including hardware inventory, tracking distribution, and ensuring license compliance.
• Assisting with the deployment and updating of software, operating system upgrades, and security patches.
• Ensuring basic cybersecurity hygiene at the desktop level, such as verifying antivirus software installation and updates, and adhering to information security policies.
• Documenting procedures, solutions, and known issues to build a knowledge base for the support team.
• Collaborating with other IT teams (e.g., network, systems) to resolve complex issues.
• The role may also involve providing support for peripheral devices like printers and scanners.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

To qualify for this opportunity, you should meet the following requirements:

• A Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field (e.g., Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems) or an equivalent recognized certification, or sufficient practical experience in lieu of a formal degree.
• Proven hands-on experience (typically a minimum of 2-3 years) in a similar role as a Desktop Engineer or IT Support Technician.
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems (Windows 10/11), along with a good understanding of Microsoft Active Directory environments and basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
• Excellent hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office 365 suite and its applications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic (a significant advantage).
• The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as effectively within a team.
• Organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.
• The ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Current residence in the United Arab Emirates with a valid residence permit is a significant advantage during the application process.
