Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The successful supervisor will occupy a leadership role requiring a blend of deep technical expertise and effective management skills. Core responsibilities include:

  • Field Leadership & Supervision: Leading and directing technical work teams specialized in Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) activities on-site. This involves planning daily tasks, assigning roles, and ensuring work is executed according to the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
  • Safety & Quality Assurance: Strictly adhering to and enforcing all safety protocols (e.g., OSHA or equivalent local standards) to prevent accidents. Overseeing the quality of all electrical and instrumentation work to ensure compliance with technical specifications and applicable building codes.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Supervising preventive and corrective maintenance activities for electrical systems, instrumentation, and control systems. Leading complex troubleshooting efforts and devising practical, effective solutions to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Coordination & Planning: Working closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure the seamless integration of E&I work with the overall project schedule. Assisting in resource planning and estimating required materials and equipment.
  • Review & Documentation: Reviewing electrical drawings, instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and installation plans. Maintaining accurate work records, progress reports, incident reports, and documentation of maintenance procedures.
  • Training & Development: Contributing to the skill development of the work team through mentoring and training on technical tasks, procedures, and safety.

Qualifications and Essential Requirements

  • Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent extensive and proven practical experience in the field may be considered.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in the electrical and instrumentation field, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role within an industrial or construction environment (e.g., Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Power Plants, Manufacturing, Major Construction Projects).
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • In-depth knowledge of electrical power systems (LV/MV), control systems (DCS/PLC), and field instrumentation (flow meters, transmitters, control valves).
    • Comprehensive understanding of electrical schematics, symbols, and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
    • Familiarity with electrical safety standards (NFPA 70E) and other relevant international codes.
  • Soft Skills: Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Problem-solving ability and decision-making skills under pressure. Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Other Requirements: A valid Saudi driving license is often desirable. Proficiency in English for reading and writing technical documentation is essential.
