Job Description

The Field Engineer (Airfield Pavement) will be responsible for the direct supervision and technical oversight of construction, maintenance, and evaluation activities for runways, taxiways, and associated pavements at airport facilities. You will work within a dynamic team to ensure strict adherence to the highest standards of quality, safety, and international technical specifications.

Key Expected Responsibilities:

• Field Supervision: Daily monitoring of construction and preparation activities for airfield pavement layers, including grading, compaction, and concrete pouring or asphalt installation as per project design.
• Quality Control & Inspection: Ensuring all materials and workmanship comply with approved technical specifications, designs, and donor specifications (e.g., FAA, ICAO). Conducting necessary field inspections and tests.
• Coordination & Communication: Acting as a vital link between the office-based design team and the site execution team. Coordinating with contractors, suppliers, and other work teams to ensure smooth workflow.
• Documentation & Reporting: Preparing daily and weekly progress reports, logging any deviations from specifications, and documenting inspection and testing work with photos and data.
• Safety: Strictly adhering to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) protocols on the work site and helping to promote a safety culture among all personnel.
• Problem-Solving: Identifying technical or execution challenges that arise on-site and working to develop practical and timely solutions in collaboration with supervising engineers.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be a successful candidate for this critical technical role, you should meet the following criteria:

• Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering field.
• Experience: Proven hands-on experience (typically a minimum of 5 years) in supervising airfield pavement construction or maintenance projects. Preference will be given to those with experience on major airport projects.
• Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of airfield pavement design and construction specifications, properties of paving materials (concrete/asphalt), and relevant field and laboratory testing methods.
• Skills: Excellent communication and relationship management skills. Ability to work under pressure in dynamic site environments. Accuracy and strong attention to detail.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong command of basic computer software and engineering applications (such as AutoCAD) is required.
• Language: Proficiency in English for reading, writing, and communication is essential. Knowledge of Arabic is a significant advantage.
