Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the optimal and reliable operation of air compressor systems for the company's clients. Core responsibilities include:

• Maintenance and Diagnostics: Performing routine and preventive maintenance on a variety of industrial air compressors. This includes inspection, lubrication, filter changes, and system performance verification.
• Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnosing and repairing complex technical faults at customer sites. This requires a deep understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control system principles.
• On-Site Customer Service: Responding to customer service calls and performing urgent repairs to minimize downtime in their facilities.
• Installation and Commissioning: Assisting with the installation, testing, and commissioning of new equipment to ensure it meets technical specifications.
• Training and Support: Providing basic guidance and training to the company's clients on proper operation and routine maintenance of equipment.
• Documentation and Reporting: Preparing detailed technical service reports for each site visit, including work performed, parts used, and recommendations for the customer.
• Spare Parts Management: Identifying required parts, placing orders, and ensuring the availability of essential inventory to complete tasks efficiently.

Qualifications and Essential Requirements

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent high-level technical qualification (Advanced Technical Diploma with substantial experience).
• Practical Experience: Proven hands-on experience of at least 3 to 5 years in servicing and maintaining industrial air compressors or similar rotating equipment.
• Technical Skills:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of air compressor types (screw, piston, centrifugal).
  • Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Advanced electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of control systems (PLC) is a strong advantage.
• Personal Skills:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
  • Flexibility to travel within the Sultanate of Oman to reach client sites.
  • Commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) protocols in industrial settings.
• Other Requirements: A valid driving license, and proficiency in English (Arabic language skills are an additional advantage).

Work Environment and Location

This will be an almost entirely field-based role, with the engineer spending most of their time visiting client sites across various industrial and commercial areas in Oman. The role requires a good level of physical fitness to handle equipment in sometimes challenging site conditions.
