Maintenance Manager (Plastic Manufacturing) - Doha, Qatar

Job Overview

The Maintenance Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all assets and machinery within the plastic manufacturing facility. He/she will be the primary authority responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive maintenance strategies aimed at enhancing reliability, minimizing downtime, improving operational efficiency, and upholding the highest standards of safety and quality. This position is critical to production continuity and operational success.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Lead and develop the technical maintenance team, including recruitment, training, evaluation, and mentoring.
• Develop and execute proactive and preventive maintenance strategies for all equipment, including injection molding machines, extrusion lines, cooling systems, and auxiliary utilities.
• Manage the maintenance department budget, control costs, and ensure optimal utilization of resources and spare parts.
• Oversee the diagnosis and repair of complex breakdowns in a swift and effective manner to minimize impact on the production line.
• Ensure full compliance with all local and international safety and environmental regulations within the maintenance scope.
• Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, and Supply Chain departments to optimize overall plant performance.
• Evaluate and update periodic maintenance programs based on data analysis and equipment performance.
• Manage maintenance contracts with external vendors and contractors as required.
• Prepare detailed performance reports on maintenance activities, costs, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for senior management.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field. A Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in industrial plant maintenance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role (Manager or Senior Supervisor).
• Proven, hands-on experience specifically within the plastic manufacturing sector or similar manufacturing industries (e.g., packaging, consumer goods, automotive).
• In-depth knowledge of plastic manufacturing equipment (injection, extrusion, blow molding), hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical systems, and control systems (PLC).
• Strong leadership and managerial skills with the ability to motivate teams and drive change.
• Proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) software.
• Solid understanding of industrial safety principles and quality management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in both Arabic and English (written and spoken).
• Ability to solve complex problems and make decisions under pressure.
