Job Description

The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for delivering specialized, patient-centered therapeutic care. Key duties will include:

  • Assessing the needs of patients across various age groups with physical, developmental, or emotional disabilities.
  • Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans aimed at restoring or enhancing patients' daily functional skills, including self-care, work, and leisure activities.
  • Utilizing specialized therapeutic techniques and activities to improve strength, motor coordination, endurance, and cognition.
  • Educating patients, their families, and caregivers on coping strategies and the use of adaptive equipment.
  • Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and speech therapists to provide holistic care.
  • Accurately documenting patient progress and maintaining medical records in compliance with the highest professional standards and institutional policies.
  • Participating in community outreach programs and educational workshops related to health and wellness.

Requirements and Qualifications

To qualify for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognized university. A Master's degree is a distinct advantage.
  • Licensing: Must possess a valid license to practice as an Occupational Therapist from the Omani authorities, or be eligible to obtain one. Eligibility typically involves recognition of your qualification and relevant experience.
  • Experience: Proven practical experience of at least 2-3 years in Occupational Therapy, preferably in a hospital, rehabilitation center, or multi-disciplinary clinic setting.
  • Personal Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients and colleagues.
    • Empathy, patience, and a strong ability to motivate others.
    • Strong analytical skills for case assessment and progress monitoring.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a cohesive team.
    • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Technical Requirements: Proficiency in using modern therapeutic equipment and tools, and competence in computer software for medical records.
  • Language: Proficiency in English for documentation and communication within the international team. Knowledge of Arabic is a significant advantage for interacting with local patients.
