Job Description and Responsibilities

The Planning Engineer will be responsible for the time and planning aspects of civil projects, ensuring objectives are met within set schedules and approved budgets. Key responsibilities include:

• Developing Comprehensive Schedules: Creating detailed plans and schedules for projects using specialized software such as Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project, considering all project phases from design to handover.
• Monitoring and Tracking Progress: Tracking actual project progress against the baseline plan, identifying any deviations or delays, and analyzing their root causes.
• Preparing Periodic Reports: Synthesizing and analyzing data to prepare detailed weekly and monthly project status reports, showcasing completion percentages, potential risks, proposed solutions, and presenting them to management and the client.
• Resource Management: Assisting in planning and allocating resources (labor, equipment, materials) in alignment with the schedule to ensure efficiency.
• Impact Analysis: Assessing the impact of any changes in the scope of work (Variations/Change Orders) on the overall project schedule and providing necessary recommendations.
• Coordinating with Teams: Working closely with Project Managers, Site Engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure work plans are integrated and schedules are realistic.
• Supporting Bidding Process: Contributing to the submission phases for new projects by preparing preliminary programs and feasibility analyses.

Qualifications and Requirements

To qualify for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from a recognized university.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 to 8 years of practical experience in a similar role (Planning Engineer or Project Engineer) within the construction and civil engineering sector, with proven experience on large or medium-scale projects in the Gulf region (preferably in the UAE).
• Technical Skills:
  • Advanced proficiency in project planning software, especially Oracle Primavera P6. Proficiency in MS Project is also essential.
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles (PMI) and construction methodologies.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Personal Skills:
  • Strong analytical and deductive skills.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in both Arabic and English.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet challenges.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to manage priorities.
