Registered Nurse - Maternity Ward

Job Description and Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be an integral part of the maternal care team within the Obstetrics and Gynecology department. The role will focus on ensuring comprehensive, safe, and high-quality nursing care during the antenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum stages. Key expected duties include:

  • Direct Patient Care: Monitoring vital signs of the mother and fetus, administering medications and IV fluids as per physician orders, and assisting in both natural and cesarean delivery procedures.
  • Support and Education: Providing emotional support and educational guidance to mothers and their families regarding postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
  • Monitoring and Assessment: Closely observing the condition of mothers and newborns to identify and promptly report any potential complications to the attending physician.
  • Maintaining Records: Accurately documenting all nursing assessments, interventions, and patient care in electronic medical records.
  • Team Collaboration: Working effectively in collaboration with obstetricians, pediatricians, midwives, and other nursing staff to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Compliance: Strictly adhering to hospital protocols and policies, safety standards, and the health regulations enforced by the Abu Dhabi health authorities.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

To be eligible for this opportunity at NMC Healthcare, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A Diploma or Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from a recognized university or institute.
  • Licensing: Must be a Registered Nurse holding a valid license to practice nursing from the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOH) or the Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DoH). Candidates with an already active license or who are eligible for licensure will be preferred.
  • Experience: Proven work experience of at least 2-3 years in Obstetrics & Gynecology nursing or Maternal-Child care within a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • Technical Skills: Practical knowledge of maternity ward procedures and equipment.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication and listening skills, with empathy and a supportive demeanor. Must be able to work under pressure in a shift-based schedule (day/evening/night), and be meticulous with a strong commitment to confidentiality and safety standards.
