Road Drainage & Hydraulic Engineer in Muscat
RENARDET S.A. & PARTNERS - Bonifica GROUP is currently seeking a qualified Road Drainage & Hydraulic Engineer to join their engineering teams in Muscat, Oman. This position presents a significant opportunity for specialized civil and hydraulic engineers to become part of a leading consultancy firm involved in major infrastructure projects across the Gulf region.
Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The appointed engineer will be responsible for the design and analysis of stormwater drainage and hydraulic systems for road and infrastructure projects. Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Design & Analysis: Designing stormwater drainage systems (e.g., open channels, culverts, retention basins, inlets) for highway and major road projects using specialized software (such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, hydraulic modeling software).
- Hydrological Studies: Conducting hydrological and hydraulic studies to estimate runoff quantities and design systems capable of handling them according to local and international standards.
- Documentation Preparation: Preparing detailed drawings, technical reports, work specifications, and quantity calculations related to drainage systems.
- Coordination: Working closely with other design teams (e.g., road engineers, bridge engineers, environmental engineers) to ensure design integration and coherence.
- Design Review: Reviewing and evaluating designs submitted by contractors or sub-consultants.
- Site Support: Providing technical support during the construction and implementation phases, responding to queries, and monitoring the quality of work on site.
- Compliance: Ensuring all designs comply with applicable Omani specifications and standards, as well as engineering best practices.
Qualifications & Requirements
To be eligible for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited university. A Master's degree in Water Resources or Hydraulic Engineering will be a distinct advantage.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 to 8 years of practical experience in designing road drainage and hydraulic systems, with preferably part of that experience gained on projects within the region (Gulf Cooperation Council countries or the Middle East).
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software and hydraulic modeling software (such as HEC-RAS, SWMM, or similar). Solid knowledge of relevant design standards.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written), with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Accuracy and strong attention to detail are essential.
- Language: Fluency in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is considered an advantage.
