Senior Accountant – Trade Finance & Banking in Dubai

Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant will be placed within the finance department and will be responsible for a range of critical and precise tasks that support the company's financial and trade operations. This role will have a particular focus on banking and financing aspects related to international and domestic trade.

The core responsibilities expected for this position include:

• Trade Finance Management: Processing, monitoring, and executing all trade finance transactions such as Letters of Credit (L/Cs), Bank Guarantees, Standby Letters of Credit, and Demand Drafts. Ensuring full compliance with local and international terms and regulations.
• Bank Accounting: Managing all company bank accounts. This includes daily/monthly bank reconciliation, monitoring cash flows, and processing local and international payments (bank transfers, electronic payments, etc.).
• Financial Reporting: Assisting in the preparation of periodic financial reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) related to cash and bank positions. Providing analysis and control over financial expenses and liabilities.
• Compliance & Reconciliation: Ensuring all banking and finance transactions align with the company's internal policies and applicable laws and regulations in the United Arab Emirates.
• Bank Coordination: Acting as the primary point of contact with the company's partner banks. Managing banking relationships, following up on inquiries, and facilitating the opening of accounts or updating banking services as required.
• General Accounting Support: Providing support in preparing journal entries, calculating depreciation, accrued expenses, and other general accounting tasks as part of a cohesive team.

Qualifications & Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:

Educational Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional certification (e.g., CMA, CPA, ACCA) is a significant advantage.

Work Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial accounting, with a strong and consistent focus on trade finance and banking operations.
• Proven hands-on experience in handling trade finance instruments (Letters of Credit, Guarantees, etc.) in a corporate environment.
• Prior experience working in the UAE or the GCC region with an understanding of the local financial and banking system will be highly preferred.

Personal & Technical Skills:

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
• Practical experience using an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Arabic.
• An analytical mindset with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
• High integrity and professional ethics in handling sensitive financial information.
