Senior Specialist, Emergency and Crises Management at Oman Investment Authority

The Oman Investment Authority (OIA) is inviting applications for the position of Senior Specialist, Emergency and Crises Management at its headquarters in Muscat, Oman. Job Overview

The Senior Specialist for Emergency and Crises Management will play a central role in enhancing the resilience and preparedness of the Oman Investment Authority. The incumbent will be responsible for developing comprehensive emergency plans, leading response operations, and establishing recovery mechanisms to ensure the operational stability of the Authority and its diverse portfolio of companies across various sectors.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop and Update Emergency Plans: Lead the creation, refinement, and continuous updating of comprehensive Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and Emergency Response Plans for the Authority, ensuring alignment with international best practices and local regulations.
  • Manage Crisis Response Operations: Coordinate and execute effective response activities during crises or emergency situations, acting as a central liaison between internal departments and relevant external stakeholders.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct regular analyses of potential threats to operations and provide proactive recommendations for risk mitigation.
  • Training and Capacity Building: Design and implement training programs, workshops, and simulation exercises for internal response teams to ensure their readiness and effectiveness.
  • Crisis Communication: Contribute to developing clear and transparent communication strategies for managing information flow internally and externally during critical events.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Build strong working relationships and coordinate with relevant government entities (such as Civil Defence and security agencies) and strategic partners to enhance the overall response network.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Public Administration, Security Sciences, Risk Management, or a similar discipline. A Master’s degree is a strong advantage.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of proven professional experience in emergency management, crisis management, business continuity, or risk management, preferably with some exposure within large government institutions, investment entities, or the financial sector.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of international crisis management frameworks (e.g., ISO 22301) and emergency planning tools. Knowledge of safety and corporate security procedures.
  • Personal Skills: Strong leadership and decision-making abilities under pressure. Exceptional analytical skills to assess complex situations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English. Ability to work within and manage multidisciplinary teams.
  • Personal Attributes: High integrity, emotional stability, and willingness to be on call or work outside standard hours during emergencies.
