Specialist - Orthopaedic Surgery | NMC Healthcare, Abu Dhabi

NMC Healthcare, a leading provider of healthcare services in the Gulf region, is inviting applications for the position of Specialist - Orthopaedic Surgery in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This role presents an exceptional opportunity for experienced and skilled surgeons to join a prestigious medical institution renowned for delivering high-quality patient care.

Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be integrated into the dynamic orthopaedic surgery department at NMC and will be responsible for a range of critical clinical duties, including:

  • Conducting comprehensive diagnostic evaluations of patients with musculoskeletal disorders and injuries, encompassing bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, and muscles.
  • Diagnosing complex conditions such as fractures, arthritic diseases (e.g., osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis), sports injuries, spinal disorders, and degenerative bone diseases.
  • Planning and implementing appropriate treatment plans, which may involve conservative (non-surgical) management or advanced surgical intervention.
  • Performing a wide spectrum of surgical procedures within the specialty, which may include joint replacement surgeries (hip and knee), arthroscopic surgeries of the knee and shoulder, fracture fixations, and spinal surgeries.
  • Providing post-operative care and follow-up to ensure optimal patient outcomes and full recovery.
  • Working collaboratively with other physicians and medical specialties, such as physiotherapists and radiologists, to deliver integrated, multidisciplinary care.
  • Adhering to the highest standards of patient safety, medical ethics, and professional conduct as mandated by the UAE healthcare regulations.
  • Contributing to continuous professional development and training activities within the department.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

To be eligible for this critical role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, followed by a recognized post-graduate specialization in Orthopaedic Surgery (e.g., Fellowship, Board Certification).
  • Licensing: The candidate must possess a valid license to practice as a Specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery from the Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DoH) or be eligible to obtain one. Priority will be given to doctors with existing, active licenses.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of post-specialization experience in the field of Orthopaedic Surgery, with a proven track record in performing surgical procedures and managing cases successfully.
  • Skills: Excellent diagnostic and consultative skills, with superior decision-making ability under pressure. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills in English (Arabic is a strong advantage).
  • Personal Attributes: A deep commitment to patient care, reliability, ability to work effectively in a team, and a willingness to learn and adapt to modern surgical techniques.
