  • Operational Oversight: Monitoring the performance of data center infrastructure (servers, storage systems, networking equipment) 24/7 using specialized tools and responding promptly to alerts or incidents.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Performing routine and proactive maintenance tasks, troubleshooting and resolving both physical and logical hardware issues in equipment (e.g., servers, routers, switches, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), Power Distribution Units (PDUs)).
  • Asset Management: Documenting and maintaining accurate records of all physical components within the data center, including inventory tracking, hardware upgrades, and decommissioning.
  • Infrastructure Support: Assisting with the installation, racking, stacking, and configuration of new data center equipment in accordance with design standards and best practices.
  • Compliance and Security: Ensuring compliance with strict physical security protocols, access control procedures, and environmental standards (cooling, humidity). Contributing to the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Qualifications and Core Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this position, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent extensive practical experience may be considered.
  • Work Experience: Proven hands-on experience of at least 3 to 5 years in operating and managing data centers or critical infrastructure environments.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Deep understanding of data center architecture, power systems (AC/DC, backup generators, UPS), and cooling systems (CRAC/CRAH units).
    • Practical experience with server hardware from major vendors (e.g., Dell EMC, HPE, Cisco UCS).
    • Strong knowledge of data networking (TCP/IP, Layer 2/3 switching, routing protocols).
    • Familiarity with operating systems (Linux/Windows Server) at a fundamental level.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities, capacity to work under pressure and in shift patterns (if required), strong attention to detail, and effective communication and documentation skills.
  • Professional Certifications (A Plus): Certifications such as CDCP (Certified Data Center Professional) or vendor-specific certifications (Cisco, Dell, VMware) are a strong advantage.
