Job Description: The Industrial Nurse

The Industrial Nurse plays a critical role in safeguarding the health and safety of the workforce within industrial facilities and large corporations. The responsibilities extend beyond traditional medical care into the realms of prevention and health promotion in the workplace. Your core duties in this position will include:

  • Providing Primary and Emergency Healthcare: Offering immediate response to injuries and sudden illnesses occurring on-site, assessing conditions, administering appropriate first aid, and arranging transportation to hospitals when necessary.
  • Overseeing Occupational Health: Contributing to employee health surveillance programs, particularly in environments with potential exposure to chemicals or specific physical hazards.
  • Awareness and Prevention: Designing and implementing awareness campaigns for workers on topics such as occupational safety, control of infectious diseases, mental health, and healthy lifestyles.
  • Managing Medical Records: Maintaining accurate and confidential medical records for all accidents, injuries, and employee medical examinations, in compliance with local regulations.
  • Collaborating with Safety Management: Working closely with the company's Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) team to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Conducting Periodic Examinations: Assisting in organizing and conducting periodic medical examinations for employees (pre-employment, routine, and post-prolonged sick leave).

Key Requirements and Qualifications

To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:

  1. Educational Qualification: A Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
  2. Professional Licensing: Must possess a valid nursing practice license from the relevant health authorities in the Sultanate of Oman, or be eligible to obtain one.
  3. Work Experience: Proven previous experience of at least 2-3 years in industrial nursing, occupational health, or within large corporate clinics. Preference will be given to those with experience in the industrial, oil & gas, or construction sectors.
  4. Technical Skills: Strong practical knowledge of advanced first aid, emergency procedures, and the fundamentals of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH).
  5. Personal Skills: Ability to work under pressure, excellent communication skills (verbal and written), and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in English, in addition to Arabic, is preferred.
