Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The successful engineer will be a core part of the quality assurance team, responsible for upholding the highest standards across all project phases. Key responsibilities include:
- Implementing Quality Systems: Ensuring full compliance with project specifications, local and international codes and standards (e.g., SASO, ISO), and approved company/client Quality Control Plans.
- Field Inspection & Surveillance: Conducting regular and ongoing inspections of civil construction works on-site (e.g., concrete works, reinforcement, structural works, finishing works) to verify adherence to approved drawings and technical specifications.
- Material Inspection: Overseeing the inspection of incoming materials to site (cement, steel, aggregates, etc.) and reviewing Certificates of Conformity (COC) and lab test results to ensure suitability for the project.
- Documentation & Reporting: Preparing detailed Inspection Reports (IRs), Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) when required, and weekly/monthly progress reports on quality status. Maintaining an organized database for all quality documentation.
- Coordination & Communication: Working closely with the Project Manager, execution engineers, subcontractors, and client representatives. Holding coordination meetings to ensure quality requirements are understood by all parties.
- Reviewing & Approving Method Statements: Reviewing and approving Method Statements and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) submitted by contractors before the commencement of any construction activity.
- Safety: Ensuring all inspection and surveillance activities are carried out in accordance with site safety protocols.
Qualifications & Essential Requirements
To qualify for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
- Professional Certifications: Possession of professional quality certifications such as Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or equivalent is highly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a similar QA/QC Civil Engineer role on major construction projects, particularly in infrastructure, large commercial, or residential building projects. Experience in the Saudi or GCC market is a significant advantage.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of civil engineering work specifications, testing and inspection methodologies, and the ability to read structural and architectural drawings.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure, keen attention to detail, leadership qualities, and decision-making capabilities.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in English (written and spoken). Knowledge of Arabic will be an added advantage.
