Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The QC Inspector will be assigned to the Quality Assurance/Quality Control team on the project site. The primary focus will be to ensure all work and materials comply with specified technical specifications, approved quality standards, and relevant local and international regulations. Key day-to-day duties are expected to include:
- Conducting routine and ongoing inspections across various project phases, including structural works, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) installations, and civil works.
- Inspecting incoming materials to the site to verify their conformity with purchase orders and required specifications before use.
- Utilizing appropriate measurement tools and equipment (e.g., laser levels, hardness testers, weld inspection gauges) to perform checks.
- Accurately documenting inspection findings and preparing daily and weekly quality status reports, noting any non-conformances.
- Working closely with project engineers, subcontractors, and work crews to rectify any defects or deviations from required standards.
- Attending quality and safety coordination meetings.
- Ensuring compliance with all site safety protocols while performing duties.
- Reviewing and inspecting Method Statements and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) prior to activity commencement.
- Assisting in the preparation of necessary project Handover Documentation.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
To qualify for this role, candidates should meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A diploma or certificate in an Engineering field (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) or any area related to quality control and inspection. University degrees may be an added advantage.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of practical experience in a similar QC Inspector role, preferably within major construction projects, industrial facilities, or the oil & gas sector.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of international quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001), welding codes (AWS/ASME), and construction codes.
- Skills: Analytical skills with a keen attention to detail. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and blueprints. Strong written communication and reporting skills.
- Professional Certifications: Professional certifications in inspection and quality (e.g., CQI/IRCA Certified Quality Inspector, welding inspection certifications) are a significant advantage.
- Other: Candidates must be physically fit to work on a project site, which may involve prolonged standing and walking across various areas. Proficiency in English for documentation and communication is essential.
