SCADA Engineer - Al Khor, Qatar

Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The appointed SCADA Engineer will operate in a professional environment, responsible for a range of critical technical tasks, including but not limited to:

• Design and Development: Contributing to the design and development of SCADA systems for the company's projects, ensuring they meet technical specifications and client requirements.
• Programming and Configuration: Programming and configuring Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) integrated with the system.
• Implementation and Installation: Overseeing the installation of field systems and ensuring their proper integration with sensors, actuators, and existing infrastructure.
• Testing and Commissioning: Conducting comprehensive testing of SCADA systems prior to commissioning, verifying their efficiency and safety, and executing commissioning plans.
• Maintenance and Support: Providing technical support, troubleshooting, and fault resolution for existing systems, and implementing software and hardware upgrades as necessary.

Qualifications and Essential Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:

• Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a related field.
• Work Experience: Proven hands-on experience of at least 3 to 5 years in SCADA systems engineering, preferably within sectors such as Oil & Gas, Energy, or Water.
• Technical Knowledge:
  • In-depth understanding of SCADA principles and industrial control systems.
  • Strong experience in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider).
  • Knowledge of common HMI/SCADA software platforms (e.g., WinCC, Citect, Ignition, IFix).
  • Understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, OPC).
  • Basic knowledge of computer networking and system security.
• Soft Skills: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities, capacity to work under pressure, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team.
• Additional Requirements: Proficiency in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic may be an added advantage.
