Job Overview

The Senior Network Technician will play a pivotal role within the company's IT and Communications team. The core focus will be on ensuring the smooth, secure, and efficient operation of the company's Local and Wide Area Networks (LAN/WAN), supporting business operations and maintaining continuity. Operating within the telecommunications sector, this role is strategically important for Starlink WLL to deliver high-quality services to its clients.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Network Equipment Installation & Maintenance: Installing, configuring, and maintaining routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and related network hardware.
• Network Performance Monitoring: Proactively monitoring network performance and stability, diagnosing and resolving faults promptly to minimize downtime.
• Cybersecurity Policy Implementation: Assisting in the implementation and evolution of network security policies to protect data and infrastructure from threats.
• Technical Support: Providing Level 2/3 technical support to the IT team and end-users regarding network connectivity issues.
• Documentation: Creating and maintaining accurate technical documentation for the network, including diagrams, operational procedures, and change logs.
• Vendor Coordination: Liaising with service providers and equipment vendors to resolve complex issues and plan infrastructure upgrades.
• Supervision & Guidance: The role may involve supervising and mentoring junior network technicians.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Academic Qualification: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field. Equivalent extensive practical experience may be considered.
• Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in computer network administration and maintenance, preferably in corporate environments or within an Internet Service Provider (ISP) sector.
• Professional Certifications: Industry-standard certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Network+, or equivalent certifications from vendors like Juniper or Fortinet are highly preferred.
• Technical Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs).
  • Hands-on experience with configuring and managing Cisco and/or other leading network hardware.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles and their application at the network level.
  • Proficiency with network monitoring and analysis tools.
• Soft Skills:
  • Strong analytical and excellent problem-solving abilities, especially under pressure.
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with internal teams and vendors.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
