Senior Procurement Engineer - Doha, Qatar

Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The Senior Procurement Engineer will occupy a pivotal role in the procurement lifecycle, with a specific focus on technical and engineering acquisitions. The main responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the End-to-End Procurement Process: Managing the acquisition process for engineering materials, equipment, and technical services, from need identification through to final delivery.
- Tender Preparation and Evaluation: Drafting technical and commercial Request for Proposal/Quotation (RFP/RFQ) documents, receiving bids, and conducting comparative technical and financial analysis to ensure best value is achieved.
- Supplier Management: Sourcing, evaluating, and qualifying new vendors, building long-term strategic relationships with key suppliers, and monitoring their performance.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensuring full compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as all relevant regulations and standard specifications in Qatar.
- Contract Negotiation: Leading contract negotiations with suppliers to secure optimal commercial and technical terms while managing associated risks.
- Cost Control and Quality Assurance: Working to improve cost-effectiveness across all purchasing activities without compromising required quality standards and technical specifications.
- Internal Collaboration: Working closely with Engineering, Projects, Operations, and Finance departments to accurately understand their requirements and ensure their needs are met in a timely manner.
Qualifications and Core Requirements
To be eligible for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, or a related engineering field). A Master's degree or professional certifications in Supply Chain Management or Procurement is a strong added advantage.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in procurement, with a strong focus on engineering and technical procurement. Experience must be within an industrial, construction, energy, or major projects environment.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in computer applications (MS Office Suite), in-depth knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for procurement, and a comprehensive understanding of technical specifications and engineering drawings.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, high analytical ability, strong attention to detail, and leadership skills in managing complex procurements. The ability to work under pressure and tackle challenges is essential.
- Language: Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory. Knowledge of the Arabic language is a valuable added advantage.
