Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The 3D Printing Engineer will play a pivotal role in the product lifecycle, from initial concept to final delivery. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Design & Modeling: Creating and modifying complex, print-optimized 3D CAD models, ensuring manufacturability and functionality.
• Machine Operation & Setup: Operating and maintaining a variety of industrial 3D printers (e.g., FDM, SLA, SLS) and fine-tuning print parameters for optimal results in accuracy and strength.
• Material Management: Selecting appropriate materials (polymers, resins, metal powders) for each application, managing inventory, and ensuring material quality.
• Quality Control & Testing: Conducting precise inspections of printed parts using appropriate metrology tools and testing them to verify compliance with technical and engineering specifications.
• Process Optimization: Continuously researching methods to improve print process efficiency, reduce time and cost, and enhance final quality.
• Technical Collaboration: Working closely with design, engineering, and R&D teams to understand requirements and provide technical solutions.
• Project Documentation: Preparing detailed technical reports on design, printing, and testing processes.

Qualifications & Core Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:

• Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field in digital design and manufacturing.
• Practical Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience in the 3D printing field, whether in an industrial, research, or service bureau environment. Experience with multiple printing technologies is preferred.
• Technical Skills:
  • Advanced proficiency in 3D modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, or similar).
  • In-depth knowledge of slicing software such as Ultimaker Cura, PrusaSlicer, or specialized equivalents.
  • Strong understanding of engineering material properties and their behavior during additive manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and comprehend geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Personal Skills: High attention to detail, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and in a team, technical curiosity, and a continuous desire to learn.
