Job Description and Responsibilities

The appointed Assistant Nurse will be integrated into NMC's Homecare team, primarily responsible for providing supportive nursing and essential care to patients in their residences. Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering basic nursing care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or medical supervisor.
  • Assisting patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as required, such as personal hygiene, feeding, and mobility.
  • Monitoring and accurately recording patient vital signs (e.g., temperature, pulse, blood pressure) and reporting any notable changes to the supervising team.
  • Assisting with medication management as per specific medical instructions.
  • Providing emotional support and reassurance to patients and their family members.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean care environment within the patient's home.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to infection control protocols and NMC's policies and procedures.
  • Collaborating effectively with the wider homecare team, including doctors, therapists, and social workers.
  • Assisting with simple clerical work related to patient care documentation.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

To qualify for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A diploma or certificate in Nursing (Assistant Nurse) from a recognized institute or college.
  • Licensing: Must possess a valid Assistant Nurse license from the relevant UAE health authorities (e.g., Abu Dhabi Department of Health - DOH). Candidates with a ready or transferable license are preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years of practical nursing experience, with preference given to those with experience in homecare, geriatric care, or hospital wards.
  • Personal Skills:
    • High levels of empathy, patience, and the ability to provide care with dignity and respect.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in both Arabic and English.
    • Ability to work independently while maintaining teamwork.
    • Reliability and a professional demeanor.
    • Ability to handle diverse medical cases and provide sensitive care.
  • Other Requirements: A valid driver's license and personal vehicle are preferred due to the mobile nature of the job, requiring travel between patients' homes.
