Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The BMT Data and Quality Manager will be primarily responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Bone Marrow Transplant program's data and ensuring its compliance with the highest local and international standards. Key responsibilities include:

  • Database Management: Designing, maintaining, and securing the BMT program's dedicated databases, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of patient information and treatment outcomes.
  • Reporting and Analytics: Generating periodic reports and statistical analyses required to evaluate program performance, patient outcomes, and key quality indicators (KPIs). Providing data-driven insights to support clinical and administrative decision-making.
  • Quality Assurance and Accreditation: Leading and implementing quality assurance and improvement programs within the BMT unit. Ensuring the program's readiness and ongoing compliance with relevant international accreditation standards (e.g., JCI, FACT standards for BMT).
  • Audit and Review: Conducting regular internal audits of processes and data, identifying areas for improvement, and developing action plans to address any gaps.
  • Collaboration with Medical Team: Working closely with BMT physicians, specialized nurses, pharmacists, and multidisciplinary team members to integrate data management and quality assurance principles into daily clinical practice.
  • Training and Development: Training the program staff on data entry protocols, system usage, and quality/accreditation requirements.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Health Informatics, Biostatistics, Nursing, or any medical/health discipline with strong data management experience. A Master's degree is a distinct advantage.
  • Professional Experience: At least 5 years of experience in health data management, quality assurance, or program management within a specialized medical setting, preferably in transplantation (bone marrow or solid organ) or oncology.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Electronic Health/Medical Records (EHR/EMR) systems and medical databases. Advanced skills in data analysis and the use of software like Microsoft Excel and statistical analysis packages (e.g., SPSS, SAS, or R).
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of international healthcare accreditation standards (e.g., JCI, FACT standards for BMT) and local regulations concerning data privacy and confidentiality (e.g., UAE data privacy law).
  • Personal Skills: Excellent communication and leadership abilities. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
