Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Oncology Registered Nurse will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and support of patients with cancer. The primary responsibilities for this role include:

  • Providing specialized, hands-on nursing care to oncology patients before, during, and after treatment, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and immunotherapy.
  • Closely monitoring patients' health status, assessing side effects of treatments, and managing pain effectively.
  • Preparing and administering chemotherapy medications and other specialized drugs in accordance with the highest safety standards and approved protocols.
  • Educating patients and their families about the disease process, treatment plans, self-care management, and potential side effects.
  • Collaborating closely with oncologists, pharmacists, nutritionists, social workers, and other caregivers to ensure a comprehensive and integrated treatment plan.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records for all patient interactions, treatments, and observations.
  • Adhering strictly to all institutional infection control and patient safety protocols.
  • Providing psychological and emotional support to patients and their families throughout the challenging treatment journey.
  • Participating in continuous professional development and training programs to stay updated on the latest practices in oncology nursing.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

To be eligible for this critical role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or a recognized Nursing Diploma.
  • Licensing: Must possess a valid nursing license from the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) or be eligible to obtain one. A Dubai Health Authority (DHA) license is highly preferred.
  • Experience: Proven hands-on experience of at least 2-3 years in oncology nursing within a hospital or specialized center. Experience in chemotherapy administration is a significant advantage.
  • Technical Skills: In-depth practical knowledge of chemotherapy protocols, central venous access device management, and isolation precautions.
  • Personal Skills:
    • High level of empathy and superior ability to interact with patients and families under stress.
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in English. Arabic language skills are an additional advantage.
    • Ability to work effectively within a team and in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in task execution.
    • Resilience and emotional stamina.
