Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The Piping Engineer will be responsible for the technical and supervisory aspects related to piping systems in construction projects. Core responsibilities include:
- Design and Engineering: Contributing to the review and development of piping system layouts and drawings in compliance with international specifications (e.g., ASME, ANSI) and local standards. The engineer will ensure the accuracy of hydraulic calculations and the selection of appropriate materials for pressures, temperatures, and fluid services.
- Construction Supervision: Direct field supervision of piping installation activities at the project site, ensuring execution matches the required drawings and specifications. This includes overseeing work crews and contractors.
- Quality Control and Safety: Implementing Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) programs for piping systems, conducting required inspections and tests such as pressure tests (Hydrotest) and weld examinations. The role also carries significant responsibility for ensuring strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards throughout all work phases.
- Coordination and Procurement Support: Coordinating with other engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical) and project management. Assisting in preparing Material Take-Offs (MTOs) and reviewing vendor and contractor submissions from a technical perspective.
- Troubleshooting and Technical Support: Analyzing technical problems arising during construction or commissioning and proposing effective engineering solutions. Providing necessary technical support to the project team.
Qualifications and Essential Requirements
To qualify for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in construction piping engineering, preferably within oil & gas, power plant, or major industrial projects in the Gulf region.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of piping design codes and standards (ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8). Strong proficiency in design software like AutoCAD and stress analysis software like CAESAR II is a significant advantage.
- Personal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in both Arabic and English. Ability to work under pressure, manage time effectively, and operate within a multinational team environment. Strong leadership skills and decision-making ability.
- Certifications: Possession of recognized professional certifications in safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) or project management (e.g., PMP) will be highly regarded.
