Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The successful consultant will hold a pivotal role within the pediatric cardiac surgery team, with primary responsibilities focused on the specialized and complex anesthetic care. Key duties and responsibilities include:

• Comprehensive Anesthetic Assessment: Conducting thorough and detailed medical evaluations of pediatric patients scheduled for cardiac surgeries, including analysis of medical history, laboratory tests, and imaging results.
• Anesthesia Planning and Execution: Developing and implementing safe, effective, and individualized anesthesia plans for each case, considering the unique complexities associated with congenital and acquired heart diseases in young age groups.
• Intraoperative Management: Providing direct and continuous supervision of the patient's anesthetic and vital parameters throughout the surgical procedure, ensuring hemodynamic and respiratory stability under precise surgical conditions.
• Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Working closely and in coordination with a multidisciplinary medical team including pediatric cardiac surgeons, pediatric intensivists, interventional cardiologists, and specialized nurses to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Postoperative Care Management: Participating in the post-operative follow-up of the patient in the recovery room or Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), managing pain and potential complications.
• Leadership and Supervision: Providing guidance and supervision to residents and medical students in the field of pediatric cardiac anesthesia, and participating in continuous medical education activities.
• Protocol Adherence: Ensuring full compliance with the highest international medical standards, safety protocols, and center policies.

Qualifications and Essential Requirements

To be eligible for this specialized role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Qualification: Possession of an MBBS or equivalent medical degree, along with a recognized specialist certification (Board) in Anesthesia.
• Sub-specialty Certification: Completion of a recognized fellowship or advanced training specifically in Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia. This is a fundamental and critical requirement.
• Licensing: Holding a valid medical practice license from the Abu Dhabi health regulatory authority (e.g., Department of Health - Abu Dhabi) or being eligible to obtain one. Prior UAE licensing is preferred.
• Work Experience: A minimum of 5 to 7 years of post-specialization practical experience, with a strong and proven focus on practicing pediatric cardiac anesthesia in an academic hospital or specialized medical center.
• Personal Skills: Ability to work under pressure, excellent communication and collaboration skills within a multidisciplinary team, and a deep commitment to patient safety and quality of care.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in English (spoken and written) is essential. Knowledge of the Arabic language is a significant advantage.
