Job Description
The Industrial Hygienist Specialist will play a central role in ensuring compliance with the highest occupational health and safety standards at worksites, typically within vital sectors such as oil and gas, construction, or manufacturing. The core responsibilities will be carried out in a challenging and precise operational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement industrial hygiene and environmental monitoring programs at the worksite.
- Conduct occupational health risk assessments, including exposure measurement to chemical, physical, and biological agents.
- Perform air and material sampling and analysis to determine exposure levels to hazardous substances and ensure they remain within permissible exposure limits.
- Review and evaluate the effectiveness of risk control systems (engineering and administrative).
- Prepare technical reports and provide recommendations to management for improving workplace health and safety conditions.
- Deliver training and awareness sessions to workers and management on health hazards and safe practices.
- Ensure full compliance with local Qatari regulations and recognized international standards (e.g., OSHA, NIOSH).
- Investigate occupational health-related incidents and propose preventive measures.
Requirements and Qualifications
To qualify for this critical role, you must meet the following criteria:
Educational Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Science (Chemistry, Biology, Physics), Occupational Health & Safety, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Possession of recognized professional certifications in Industrial Hygiene (such as CIH - Certified Industrial Hygienist) will be a significant advantage.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of 5 to 8 years of practical experience in the field of Industrial Hygiene, preferably within sectors like Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, or Heavy Industries.
- Proven experience working in Qatar or the GCC region with a thorough understanding of local regulations and frameworks.
- Hands-on experience in using industrial hygiene sampling and monitoring equipment.
Personal & Professional Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of industrial hygiene principles and risk assessment.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret technical data.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in both Arabic and English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multicultural team.
