Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The Material Engineer will be responsible for the technical and quality aspects related to materials in the company's trading and contracting projects. Key responsibilities include:
- Material Management & Evaluation: Overseeing the selection of appropriate materials for projects based on technical requirements, specifications, and economic feasibility.
- Quality Control & Testing: Developing and implementing material quality control plans, ensuring all materials used in projects comply with local and international specifications and agreed-upon standards.
- Supplier Collaboration: Evaluating and approving material suppliers, conducting technical negotiations, and reviewing their proposals to ensure best value and quality.
- Project Technical Support: Providing technical support to the project team regarding material properties, applications, and troubleshooting any technical issues related to performance or compatibility.
- Documentation & Reporting: Preparing detailed technical reports on material tests, certificates of compliance, and any deviations from specifications.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensuring full compliance with all relevant safety and environmental regulations concerning the use and storage of materials.
Qualifications & Essential Requirements
To be eligible for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (specialization in Material Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field) from an accredited university.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of practical experience in a similar role (Material Engineer or Materials Technician) within the trading, contracting, or construction sector. Experience in the Qatari or Gulf market is a significant advantage.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the properties and testing of construction and building materials (e.g., metals, concrete, composites, insulation, etc.). Familiarity with international standard specifications (ASTM, BS, ISO).
- Personal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (Arabic and English), ability to work within a team, accuracy and attention to detail, and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Practical Aspects: Good knowledge of Microsoft Office programs; knowledge of project management or quality systems is preferred.
