Network L2 Engineer - Diyar United Company, Sur, Oman

Diyar United Company is actively recruiting for the position of Network Level 2 (L2) Engineer to join their technical team in Sur, Sultanate of Oman. Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The appointed Network L2 Engineer will be part of the Network Operations Center (NOC) or a specialized technical support team, responsible for advanced operational and technical tasks. Core responsibilities include:

• Network Troubleshooting & Resolution: Responding to complex incidents and service requests escalated from the Level 1 (L1) support team. This involves analyzing faults related to Routing, Switching, Security, and Performance issues.
• Configuration & Management: Implementing configuration changes and managing core network devices such as Routers, Switches, Firewalls, and Load Balancers, following established change management procedures.
• Monitoring & Optimization: Proactively monitoring the performance and health of the network infrastructure using specialized tools. Proposing and implementing enhancements to improve stability, security, and efficiency.
• Documentation: Maintaining accurate network documentation, including network diagrams, configuration records, and troubleshooting logs to build a knowledge base for the team.
• Collaboration: Working closely with Level 3 (L3) network engineers and the Security Operations Center (SOC) team to resolve complex issues and implement development projects.
• 24/7 Support: The role may require participation in shift rotations or being on-call to provide support and ensure network availability around the clock.

Requirements & Qualifications

To qualify for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Work Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in managing and supporting Enterprise Networks in a similar role (L2 or Senior Network Engineer).
• Technical Certifications: Possession of industry-recognized certifications is highly preferred, such as:
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Enterprise or Security.
  • Juniper Networks Certified Specialist (JNCIS) or equivalent.
  • Cybersecurity certifications (e.g., Fortinet NSE4, Palo Alto) are a strong advantage.
• Technical Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of routing and switching protocols (OSPF, BGP, VLANs, STP).
  • Hands-on experience in configuring and managing Cisco and/or Juniper network devices.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles (VPN, Firewall Policies, ACLs).
  • Proficiency with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios).
  • Ability to perform systematic, logical problem analysis.
• Soft Skills:
