Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The Network Security Engineer will hold a pivotal role within the company's technical security team. The core responsibilities will focus on designing, implementing, monitoring, and managing network security solutions to ensure the protection and integrity of client systems. Day-to-day tasks will include:
- Design & Implementation: Designing and developing robust network security architectures that align with global best practices and standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST). This involves deploying and configuring network security hardware and software such as Firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), and Security Gateways.
- Monitoring & Analysis: Proactively monitoring network traffic to detect suspicious activities or breach attempts. Analyzing security logs and system reports to identify vulnerabilities and respond to incidents in a timely manner.
- Security Policy Management: Developing and enforcing network access control policies, ensuring they are continually updated to counter emerging threats.
- Penetration Testing & Assessment: Conducting regular network vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to evaluate the strength of existing defenses and recommend improvement measures.
- Support & Consultation: Acting as an internal expert consultant for the IT team and other departments, providing technical guidance on network security best practices for new projects.
- Documentation & Reporting: Preparing and updating technical documentation for security architecture, operational procedures, and incident reports. Providing regular management reports on security posture and emerging threats.
Qualifications and Core Requirements
To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, or a related field.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in network security, with a proven track record of managing and securing large, complex network environments.
- Advanced Technical Knowledge:
- Deep practical experience with firewall solutions from leading vendors such as Cisco ASA/Firepower, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet FortiGate.
- Strong understanding of Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS) like Snort, Suricata.
- Comprehensive knowledge of network protocols and routing (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs).
- Experience with security tools like Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems and Security Operations Centers (SOC).
- Knowledge of Virtual Private Network (VPN) concepts and encryption.
- Professional Certifications: Possessing professional certifications is a significant advantage: Cisco CCNA/CCNP Security, Palo Alto PCNSE, Fortinet NSE, CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), or CISSP.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical and investigative skills. Ability to work under pressure and make swift decisions during security incidents. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English. Teamwork and the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
