Planning Engineer Job in Muscat, Oman

Job Overview

The Planning Engineer will be placed within a technical or engineering department of the company, primarily responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating comprehensive project schedules. This role is central to ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget, directly contributing to the company's operational success and market reputation.

Key Expected Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop detailed project plans and work schedules using specialized software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
  • Continuously monitor project progress and compare actual performance against approved baselines.
  • Prepare regular (daily, weekly, monthly) status reports on the project and present them to management and stakeholders.
  • Identify and analyze any delays or deviations from the schedule and propose corrective solutions.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineering, and execution teams to ensure plan integration with all project aspects.
  • Participate in assessing potential risks that may impact the schedule and develop contingency plans.
  • Attend coordination meetings and provide technical support regarding planning aspects.
  • Update project plans to reflect any changes in scope, resources, or conditions.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field) from an accredited university.
  • Proven practical experience of at least 3 to 5 years in a similar role as a Planning Engineer, preferably in the construction, oil & gas, or major industrial projects sector.
  • Excellent proficiency in project planning software, with a strong preference for candidates with solid experience in Primavera P6.
  • Deep understanding of project management principles (PMI) and planning methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and statistical skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and reporting skills in both Arabic and English.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
