Job Description and Responsibilities
The inspector will be stationed at an industrial project site, primarily responsible for monitoring and ensuring the execution of Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) processes to the highest international standards and required technical specifications. Key responsibilities include:
- Direct supervision of on-site Post Weld Heat Treatment operations.
- Monitoring and controlling critical process parameters such as temperature, heating/cooling rates, and soak time.
- Verifying the calibration and proper use of specialized equipment like heat treatment furnaces, heating blankets, and thermocouples.
- Preparing and documenting accurate and detailed Heat Treatment Charts and records.
- Ensuring full compliance with standard process specifications (e.g., ASME Section I, V, VIII, IX, relevant API specs), project specifications, and safety codes.
- Close collaboration with welding engineers, quality teams, and contractors to ensure workflow harmony.
- Preparing daily technical reports on process progress and any observations or non-conformances.
- Contributing to troubleshooting any technical issues related to the heat treatment process.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
To qualify for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:
- Valid certification as a Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) Inspector from a globally recognized body (e.g., ASNT, AWS, or equivalent).
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a similar PWHT Inspector role, preferably on major industrial projects such as oil & gas, petrochemicals, or power plants.
- Proven and thorough understanding of international welding codes and standards (ASME, API, AWS).
- Practical experience in reading and reviewing welding procedure specifications (PQR, WPS, WPQ).
- Full proficiency in using temperature measurement and monitoring equipment related to heat treatment.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills in English (Arabic language skills are a strong advantage).
- Ability to work within a team and in a fast-paced project environment.
- Physical fitness to work on industrial sites and in conditions that may require intensive work periods.
