Job Description and Responsibilities
The appointed Quantity Surveyor will manage the financial and commercial aspects of construction projects, ensuring they are delivered within their budgetary constraints. Key responsibilities include:
- Quantity Take-off: Accurately preparing and revising Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for new and ongoing projects based on drawings and technical specifications.
- Cost Management: Monitoring and evaluating costs throughout all project stages, from initial estimation to final delivery.
- Valuation: Calculating the value of work done for monthly interim valuations and preparing payment certificates to ensure timely payments to contractors and suppliers.
- Change Analysis: Assessing Variation Orders and estimating their financial impact on the overall project cost.
- Tender Preparation: Assisting in the tendering process by analyzing contractor submissions and providing technical and financial recommendations.
- Final Account Settlement: Preparing Final Accounts upon project completion, ensuring all financial claims are settled.
- Team Collaboration: Working closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure integration between technical and financial aspects.
- Compliance: Ensuring compliance with contract conditions and relevant local regulations.
Qualifications and Requirements
To qualify for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of practical experience in a Quantity Surveyor role, preferably within construction projects in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. Experience specifically in Kuwait is a strong advantage.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in measurement and estimation software (e.g., AutoCAD, CostX, Bluebeam) or similar.
- In-depth knowledge of standard measurement principles and procedures (e.g., POMI or SMM).
- Solid understanding of contracting and procurement procedures in the construction industry.
- Personal Skills:
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, in Arabic and English.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- High level of integrity and professionalism in handling sensitive financial data.
