Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The successful Safety Trainer Engineer will be responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) training programs. The focus will be on ensuring all employees and workers comply with the highest international and local standards, directly contributing to a safe and incident-free work environment. Key responsibilities include:
- Training Material Development: Designing and preparing effective training content aligned with Saudi Arabian Standards Organization (SASO) and Civil Defense regulations, as well as international standards like OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001.
- Training Session Delivery: Leading interactive workshops and training sessions for all employee levels, from laborers to middle and senior management, focusing on safe work practices, proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and emergency procedures.
- Assessment & Follow-up: Evaluating the effectiveness of training programs through tests and practical assessments, and reporting on progress and areas requiring improvement.
- Continuous Awareness: Contributing to internal awareness campaigns to promote a proactive safety culture, hazard reporting, and near-miss incident reporting.
- Staying Updated: Remaining current with the latest HSE laws, regulations, and technologies to ensure training materials and curricula are consistently updated.
- Technical Support: Providing technical support and advice to various departments regarding the implementation of safety procedures in projects and daily operations.
Qualifications & Key Requirements
To be a suitable candidate for this critical role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, or Safety Engineering) or a related HSE field.
- Professional Certifications: A recognized training certification (as a certified trainer) and HSE certifications (such as NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely, or equivalents) are a significant competitive advantage.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of practical experience in the HSE field, with a strong focus on training and development within industrial, construction, or oil & gas environments.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of local (Saudi) and international safety management systems, firefighting procedures, and emergency response protocols.
- Personal Skills:
- Excellent presentation and communication skills (written and verbal) in both Arabic and English.
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for a diverse audience.
- Strong organizational and planning abilities.
- Capability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
