Senior Electrical Engineer (MCF/ Data Centres) - Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

HaskoningDHV, a leading global engineering and design consultancy, is actively recruiting for a Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in Manufacturing & Critical Facilities (MCF) and Data Centre projects to be based in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The Senior Electrical Engineer will hold a pivotal role within complex project teams, with primary responsibilities including:

  • Design & Engineering: Lead and develop comprehensive and detailed electrical designs for data centre and critical manufacturing facility projects, ensuring compliance with the highest international standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, BS) and local Saudi codes (e.g., SASO, SEC).
  • Project Management: Oversee the electrical aspects of projects from initial concept through to final delivery, including planning, schedule monitoring, budget control, and quality assurance.
  • Technical Coordination: Work closely with other engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Civil, Systems), clients, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of all systems.
  • Solution Review: Evaluate and review technical proposals, contractor drawings, and equipment specifications to ensure they meet project requirements.
  • Procurement Support: Prepare and review tender documents and technical specifications for electrical equipment (e.g., distribution systems, UPS, backup power systems, protection systems).
  • QA/QC & Safety: Ensure all electrical safety designs and systems are correctly implemented, conduct risk assessments, and contribute to safety policy development.
  • Mentorship & Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior electrical engineering staff, fostering knowledge transfer and team capability building.

Qualifications & Essential Requirements

To qualify for this leadership role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university. A Master's degree will be a distinct advantage.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a strong, proven focus on the design and construction of data centres or critical industrial facilities (MCF). Experience on major infrastructure projects in the Middle East, particularly Saudi Arabia, is a significant advantage.
  • Professional Licensure: A recognized professional certification (e.g., Professional Engineer - PE, Chartered Engineer) is highly desirable. Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) is an advantage or a requirement to be fulfilled after appointment.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Advanced proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) and electrical system simulation tools (e.g., ETAP, Dialux).
    • Deep knowledge of MV/LV power systems, distribution networks, UPS systems, and backup power solutions (generators).
    • Strong understanding of electrical control systems, protection systems, and fire detection/alarm systems.
    • Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) and their interface with electrical systems.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written) in both Arabic and English. Leadership abilities and a proven track record of teamwork and team management. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
