Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Sports Turf Mechanic will be integrated into a specialized maintenance team, with core responsibilities centered on ensuring the optimal operation of all sports turf care equipment. This machinery includes, but is not limited to, rotary and reel mowers, aerators, spreaders and seeders, mobile irrigation units, compact loaders, and other specialized turf equipment.

Daily tasks will encompass:

• Performing scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) on all equipment according to defined timelines.
• Diagnosing and efficiently repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical system failures.
• Inspecting, adjusting, and maintaining cutting systems, drive systems (hydraulic and mechanical), engines, and control systems.
• Replacing worn or damaged parts and ensuring the use of genuine or high-quality equivalent spare parts.
• Maintaining accurate maintenance logs for each piece of equipment, including service history, faults, and repairs.
• Working closely with equipment operators to understand performance issues and provide basic guidance on proper operation.
• Ensuring all equipment is clean, safe, and operational-ready before each use.
• Strictly adhering to all workplace and workshop health and safety protocols.

Required Qualifications and Skills

To be a successful candidate for this position, you should meet the following criteria:

• Educational Qualification: A diploma or technical qualification in Mechanics (Automotive, Agricultural Machinery, Heavy Equipment) or equivalent proven practical experience.
• Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience in maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in turf care equipment (Golf, Sports Turf), agricultural machinery, or light construction equipment.
• Technical Skills:
  • Strong understanding of basic mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, technical diagrams, and schematics.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and specialized power tools.
  • Knowledge of engine types (gasoline/diesel) and powertrain systems.

  • High reliability and ability to take responsibility for high-value equipment.
  • Physical fitness to perform tasks involving moderate lifting and occasional outdoor work.
