Job Description
The Staff Security Engineer will play a critical role in safeguarding HungerStation's complex technological infrastructure and defending it against evolving cyber threats. This individual will be responsible for designing and implementing advanced security strategies, leading proactive security initiatives, and ensuring compliance with the highest standards of data security and protection.
Key Expected Responsibilities:
- Security Architecture Leadership: Develop and enhance the company's comprehensive security framework, including security policies, preventive controls, and incident response mechanisms.
- Application & Infrastructure Security: Conduct regular security assessments (e.g., penetration testing, code reviews) of applications, systems, and cloud environments. Identify security vulnerabilities and recommend, propose, and remediate effective solutions.
- Monitoring & Response: Oversee intrusion detection systems and security monitoring (SIEM). Lead security incident response teams from investigation through containment and recovery.
- Awareness & Training: Foster a security-conscious culture within the company by training development and operations teams on security best practices (DevSecOps).
- Research & Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest cyber threats and security technologies. Evaluate and integrate new security tools to enhance the security posture.
- Technical Collaboration: Work closely with software engineering, operations, and QA teams to embed security into every phase of the development lifecycle.
Requirements and Qualifications

Core Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
- Proven hands-on experience of 5-7 years in cybersecurity, with a significant portion in an advanced security engineering role (e.g., Staff or Principal Engineer).
- Deep knowledge across multiple domains including: Application Security (OWASP), Network Security, Cloud Security (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and Operating Systems (Linux/Windows).
- Hands-on experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for security task automation.
- Solid understanding of the DevSecOps framework and how to integrate security tools into CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with common security frameworks and standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, CIS Benchmarks).
- Strong analytical and investigative skills for solving complex problems.
Required Soft Skills:
- Leadership skills and the ability to drive security initiatives and influence other technical teams.
