Estimation Engineer – Aluminium & Glazing Fabrication
A leading and well-established company in the construction and aluminium sector in the Sultanate of Oman is currently seeking to hire a skilled Estimation Engineer, specialized in Aluminium & Glazing Fabrication works. Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The engineer will be responsible for the technical and commercial aspects of the pre-contract phase, focusing on estimation accuracy to ensure competitiveness and profitability. Key duties include:
- Studying and analyzing tender documents for aluminium and glazing projects comprehensively.
- Preparing accurate Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and cost estimates based on drawings and technical specifications.
- Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations for materials (aluminium, glass, accessories) and labor.
- Preparing comprehensive and professional technical and commercial proposals and bids for submission to clients.
- Analyzing potential risks and technical challenges in the project and incorporating them into the estimate.
- Participating in meetings with the sales and technical teams to develop bid submission strategy.
- Providing technical support to the sales team during client negotiation phases.
- Maintaining an updated database of material prices and execution costs.
- Preparing analytical reports on bid outcomes, including reasons for win/loss.
Qualifications & Core Requirements
To qualify for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering field.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven experience in a similar role (Estimation Engineer) specifically within Aluminium & Glazing fabrication.
- In-depth knowledge of aluminium systems (curtain walls, windows, doors, facades) and related materials.
- Strong proficiency in essential computer software (MS Office) and engineering design/reading software (e.g., AutoCAD).
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict tender submission deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of the Omani construction and contracting market will be a significant advantage.
