Job Overview

The Resident Engineer will be responsible for the direct field supervision and monitoring of the construction phase of one or more engineering projects. Acting as the key liaison on-site between the consulting engineer (represented by RENARDET & Bonifica) and the construction contractor, the incumbent ensures that all works are executed to the highest standards of quality and safety, in strict compliance with approved technical specifications and designs, and within the defined project schedule and budget.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Conduct daily supervision of all construction and engineering activities at the project site.
• Review and inspect the contractor's method statements and work plans prior to execution.
• Ensure strict adherence by the contractor and site personnel to all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) requirements and regulations.
• Inspect materials delivered to the site for conformity with project specifications.
• Monitor the quality of workmanship at every stage of construction and prepare daily inspection reports.
• Verify site measurements, quantities, and interim payment certificates submitted by the contractor.
• Coordinate work between different engineering disciplines (civil, architectural, MEP) on-site.
• Chair regular coordination meetings with the contractor's team and client representatives.
• Identify and resolve technical issues arising during construction in collaboration with the design team.
• Prepare periodic (weekly/monthly) progress reports highlighting work status, challenges, and risks.
• Ensure accurate "As-Built" documentation of all completed works.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering field from an accredited university.
• Professional engineering certification (e.g., Chartered Engineer, P.E.) is a significant advantage.
• A minimum of 8 to 10 years of practical experience in supervising construction and infrastructure projects.
• Proven previous experience in a "Resident Engineer" or "Site Engineer" role for major projects.
• In-depth knowledge of international and local construction standards and specifications.
• Strong understanding of construction site safety protocols and procedures (HSE management).
• Leadership skills and the ability to manage and direct a site team effectively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (Arabic is a strong plus).
• Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Proficiency in relevant computer software (MS Office, and potentially AutoCAD or project management tools).
