Purchase Manager - Muscat, Oman

A prominent and distinguished company in the Omani market is opening applications for the position of Purchase Manager at its headquarters in Muscat. This role represents a vital leadership position within the company's management structure, where the incumbent will be responsible for planning and overseeing all procurement activities and decisions to ensure operational efficiency and sustainability.

Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The appointed Purchase Manager will lead the entire procurement department, focusing on delivering maximum value to the company through smart purchasing strategies. Core responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Leadership: Developing and implementing a comprehensive procurement strategy aligned with the company's overall business objectives and growth plans.
  • Supplier Management: Sourcing, evaluating, and selecting new suppliers and partners. Managing existing supplier relationships, reviewing their performance, and negotiating contracts and terms to ensure quality, timely delivery, and optimal pricing.
  • Cost Control: Analyzing market requirements and trends to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality. Preparing procurement budgets and monitoring spending against them.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance: Establishing clear standards for purchased materials and services and ensuring all procurement activities comply with internal quality specifications and applicable regulatory policies in the Sultanate of Oman.
  • Team Management: Supervising, mentoring, and developing the procurement team to ensure departmental goals are met.
  • Risk Management: Identifying potential risks in the supply chain (such as shipping disruptions or price fluctuations) and developing contingency plans to mitigate their impact.
  • Reporting: Preparing regular analytical reports on procurement performance, contract status, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for senior management.

Qualifications & Requirements

To qualify for this leadership opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Academic Qualification: A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced professional certifications (e.g., CIPS) are a strong advantage.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in procurement and supply chain, with at least 3 years in a leadership role (Manager or Head of Procurement). Experience in the Omani or GCC market will be highly regarded.
  • Technical Skills: Excellent proficiency in procurement-specific ERP software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for complex analytics.
  • Personal Skills:
    • Exceptional negotiation and persuasion skills.
    • Strong analytical ability to assess data and make decisions.
    • Leadership skills and the ability to motivate and guide a team towards goals.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English.
    • Integrity and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge: Deep knowledge of supply chain management principles, contract law, and quality management practices.
