Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The Senior Cost Control Engineer will be placed within the project management division, primarily responsible for ensuring financial accuracy and efficiency in project execution. Key responsibilities include:
- Budget Development & Monitoring: Preparing and analyzing detailed project budgets in collaboration with project managers and the technical team.
- Actual Cost Tracking: Monitoring and recording all actual project costs and continuously comparing them against the approved budget.
- Financial Performance Reporting: Generating periodic (weekly/monthly) cost performance reports, highlighting budget variances and providing corrective recommendations.
- Change Analysis & Forecasting: Evaluating the cost impact of change orders and preparing estimates for additional funding requests as needed.
- Cost-to-Complete Forecasting: Estimating the cost to complete the project based on current performance and projected trends.
- Invoice Review & Verification: Reviewing contractor and supplier invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance with contracts and agreements.
- Bid Support: Providing input and cost analysis for new projects during the bidding phase.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensuring all cost control processes adhere to company internal standards and industry best practices.
Qualifications and Essential Requirements
To qualify for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) or in Business Administration with a focus on Finance or Accounting. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Work Experience: Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience in cost control or quantity surveying, with a strong focus on major construction and infrastructure projects. Previous experience working with project management firms or top-tier contractors is a significant advantage.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, project management software like Primavera P6, and specialized cost control software (e.g., EcoSys, CostOS, or similar).
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of project management principles (PMI), cost estimating practices, and contract procedures.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical and investigative skills with the ability to interpret complex data. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Professional Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) are a strong competitive advantage.
