Job Description and Responsibilities
The Airport Construction Manager will play a pivotal role in leading and directing the execution aspects of airport construction or development projects. The core responsibilities will be comprehensive, focusing on ensuring project delivery within the defined scope, required quality, schedule, and approved budget.
Key expected responsibilities include:
- Leading an integrated construction team, including contractors, consultants, and direct staff, to ensure effective integration and coordination among all parties.
- Directly supervising all construction execution phases on the project site, from preparatory works through to final handover.
- Developing and monitoring detailed project programs and schedules, identifying critical paths, and taking corrective actions when necessary.
- Managing the project's allocated budget, controlling costs, reviewing contractors' payment certificates, and ensuring financial efficiency.
- Ensuring full compliance with the highest applicable local and international quality and safety standards, and implementing quality control and safety programs.
- Handling daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports, and providing clear presentations to company management and the client on project status.
- Identifying, assessing, and managing potential risks that could impact project progress, and developing mitigation plans.
- Acting as the primary liaison between the client, contractors, and relevant government authorities, ensuring effective communication to resolve any obstacles.
- Ensuring adherence to all contractual terms, specifications, and Saudi municipal and environmental regulations.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be a successful candidate for this leadership position, you must meet the following criteria:
Qualifications and Experience:
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a distinct advantage.
- A minimum of 15 years of practical experience in construction project management, with a strong focus on major airport projects or similar large-scale infrastructure projects (e.g., major railway stations, large sports complexes).
- Proven experience working in a General Contractor (GC) or Project/Construction Management (PM/CM) environment on projects valued at over SAR 1 billion.
- Previous hands-on experience in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or the GCC region is essential, with good knowledge of local regulatory frameworks.
- Full proficiency in project management software such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project, along with the Microsoft Office suite.
- Recognized professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent are a significant competitive advantage.
